Rudy Lukez grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and at the age of 22 in the 1980s, began work at Morton Thiokol in Brigham City, Utah as a rocket scientist. It was during this time that he served as chair for the Sierra Clubs’s Cache Valley Group. In the 1990s he served as chair of the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club and chair of the Utah Wilderness Coalition, an umbrella group of state wilderness preservation organizations.
